A RECIPE FOR POTATO NUGGETS

1. Wash the potato, then pressure cook it for two whistles over a low flame. Peel, crush, and set aside the skin.

2. Combine the mashed potatoes, cheese, corn flour, oregano mixture, salt, and pepper in a bowl.

3. Combine thoroughly to create dough without using water.

The dough should be covered and refrigerated for an hour to rest.

4. Shape the dough using your hands. Apply a layer of bread crumbs and corn flour paste. Set up on a platter.

5. Cover it and put it in the fridge for 30 minutes to chill.

6. Fry it in hot oil over a medium flame until it turns golden. With tomato ketchup, serve warm.

METHOD - STEP BY STEP PICTURES

• Wash the potato and cook it under pressure while adding the necessary water.

Cook for two whistles on a low flame. The skin of a cooked potato should be peeled off. It should be well mashed before being set aside.

• Place the mashed potatoes and cornmeal in a large bowl. salt, oregano mixture, shredded cheese (either pizza cheese or cheddar can be used), and bread crumbs. If used, add the garam masala powder. Without adding water, combine thoroughly and produce dough.

• Place a lid on the bowl and chill for an hour.

As seen in the illustration below, take little balls and roll them into cylinders.

• Make a paste by combining maize flour and water in a small basin. Place the breadcrumbs on a big platter. The formed cylinder-shaped nuggets are dipped in a corn flour mixture before being thoroughly coated with bread crumbs.

Place all the nuggets on a platter, cover it, and place it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to rest.

To deep fry, warm up a kadai with oil.

Add tomato ketchup to serve. Enjoy !

Note:

• You may make your own bread crumbs by pulverising four to six slices of bread in a food processor.

• As I did for my recipe for corn cheese balls, you can also double coat the bread crumbs and corn flour paste.

• Tailor the amount of oregano and chilli flakes to your preferences.

• Garam masala is not required and is not stated in the original recipe. So I did.

• These nuggets can be prepared in advance and frozen until needed. Roll the nuggets in bread crumbs for this, then chill them until you're ready to deep fried them.

In this recipe, Cheddar cheese was utilised. Any processed cheese, such as mozzarella, parmesan, etc., may be used.

For your youngsters, try these simple, delicious potato nuggets.
